The Optomap Retinal Exam

We recently installed a new instrument called the Optos, which scans the whole back of the eye (retina). This instrument takes the place of dilation, which means you will not be blurred when you leave the office. Another advantage is that the scan is stored in the computer for future reference, and you get to see what your retinas look like. It's a great invention, which is recommended for children, as well as adults. Insurances do not cover this procedure, unless there is discovered pathology. Our charge is $45.00 for this procedure.  We have more information regarding the Optos for you to look at, when you come in for your comprehensive exam, and you can read about this procedure under patient forms.

New Visual Field Instrument

We recently purchased a new visual field instrument, which is used for glaucoma diagnostic testing, as well as other diseases. It takes only about 5 minutes per eye to measure your peripheral field of vision.

Introducing Optifog

The new technology against fog.  Introducing Optifog, a new breakthrough technology with superior anti-fog top-coat that, when combined with the Optifog Activator, provides for long lasting fog free vision.  Available with Crizal Alize (anti-reflective).  Great for those of you who ski!  To learn more visit OptifogUSA.com.  The clips are hilarious!

Electronic focusing eyewear

Just when you were finally getting used to your digitally surfaced progressive lenses, along comes emPower dynamic electronic spectacle lenses from Pixel Optics.  This new technology is a baby boomer's dream.  It provides an invisible electronic near-focus zone when needed, simply by pushing a button on the temple piece of the frame.  These lenses claim to allow for a wider field of view with less distortion than progressive-add lenses.  When you're not reading, just push the button again and the reading zone disappears.  It has a rechargeable hidden battery as well.  Not yet available in the Northeast, but soon to come!

Frames and lenses!

We have great frames in our office.  We have over 700 to choose from, and they are all the latest styles.  We do not charge extra for warranties, as the frames are automatically warranted for as long as the frame is still made.  For our Converse and Lucky Brand Kid's frames, they are even warranted for loss!  When patients purchase frames from us, they will last years.  Come in and take a look.  But the best way to choose frames is to get help with styles, and then to try the frames on.  Otherwise, they all look the same to the untrained eye, and the process can seem daunting. A millimeter difference here and there in shape can make a huge difference on one's face.  Trying on frames can be alot of fun! We have shopping baskets for your convenience.  Patients who purchase polarized sunglasses love them, and wonder why they waited so long!

Regarding eyeglass lenses:  There are so many options these days, and so many differences in quality.  This is what differentiates the pricing.  However, if you have a certain budget, we can come up with an order to suit your needs.  So though we have pricing, the price does not tell you the quality of the lens or labs that we use.
